Living in times of growing impatience and rising demands, the two (2) coops namely: BOHOL CATHOLIC SCHOOLS MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE, INC. (BCSMPCI) AND BOHOL DIOCESAN CONSUMERS COOPERATIVE, INC. (BDCCI) had taken a bolder step to further empower its cooperators and share together on the widest scale possible to improve the quality of life of the members through consolidation.
BDCCI was organized in July 1982 with 45 members and total paid-up capital of P14,700.00. It was registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (MAF) on Nov. 17, 1982 as per Registration No. VII-ff-0388. While BCSMPCI was organized in July 1986 with an initial paid-up the capital of P8,272.45 from 47 Pioneer members. It was registered with the Ministry of Agriculture (MA) on January 22, 1990 with its Registra-tion No. R-VII-ff-235. Both coops were confirmed by Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) under Confirmation No. 1232 and 1237 dated April 17, 1991 respectively.
BDCCI was a close type co-op whose membership were composed of diocesan clergy and lay personnel of Diocese of Tagbilaran, later on it expanded to brothers and sisters of co-op members, then includes members of mandated religious organizations.
While BCSMPCI was also a close type co-op which composed of teaching and non-teaching personnel of the Bohol Association of Catholic Schools (BACS). Later on it expanded to brothers/sisters of coop members and also to members of mandated religious organizations.
The two coops are all church base thus both had Common vision. United with the same ideals, consolidation had come over in the minds of the Officers, Staff and General membership. The planning and documentations had started in 1992 and was finalized on September 3, 1993 where both co-ops had conducted a Joint General Assembly.
The idea of consolidation came to reality on its 12th years of operation of BDCCI and on its 8th years of BCSMPCI. It took for more than three (3) years to plan and process that it was registered on March 6, 1995 as per Registration No. CBU-CON-95-003 under its new name: BOHOL DIOCESAN MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE (BDMPC). Membership covers the Dioceses of Tagbilaran and Talibon. It is an open type co-op which caters the entire Province of Bohol.
It was also in 1992 where BCSMPCI had planned to expand into memorial services. The idea had came over due to the exorbitant cost/charges being imposed by existing funeraria. This had been experienced for a long time in Tagbilaran City and entire province of Bohol. Families who had experienced such tragic events had to suffer heavy indebtedness.
Triggered with the felt need of the co-op members and the General public as well, BDMPC Funeral Division was inaugurated on October 19, 1993. The foregoing service division had brought down the price of dying to a very affordable cost. Basically, it stabilize memorial services which had been escalating for the past many years. It provides funeral service to the less fortunate ones or indigent brothers/sisters which are being subsidized by the DSWD.
The first consolidated General Asembly was on April 15, wherein the total assets covering the period of December 31, 1993 was P7,200,879.42 total share capital was P 2,867,196.13 and net surplus of P387,980.35.
The Bohol Diocesan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BDMPC) has three (3) divisions namely: Consumers, Credit and Funeral Homes Division; each manned by a Division Chief.
Presently, BDMPC has nine members of the Board, two (2) elected committees namely Audit Committee & Election Committee while CRECOM, Ethics and Conciliation & Mediation are all appointed by the Board.
And with regards to our expansion, BDMPC has four (4) branches located in the strategic point of Bohol namely: Ubay branch, Jagna branch, Tubigon branch and our
